About Us
Overmountain Weaver's Guild was established in 1972
and has earned a reputation for great weavers and spinners. We are
all individuals, each with our own interests and abilities in weaving
techniques. Many of us are also experts in spinning and the other
fiber arts. Our members try to use their knowledge to help others
to learn and improve their skills. At the same time, members acheive
their own goals.
If you are intersted in joining us, we meet at
Exchange Place in Kingsport, TN on the third Wednesday of each
month
beginning at 10:00 AM. We also usually meet on the first Saturday
of each month at Exchange Place at 10:00 AM in what we call "Boot
Camp". Please see the calendar to see if we are having Boot Camp
for the current
month
As payment for using the facilities at Exchange
Place, we fulfill certain obligations to them. We participate in
their festivals by showing our wares and demonstrating our crafts.
Also, during the month of August Guild members act as weekend tour
guides for the Exchange Place. As a service to various organizations
in the region, members volunteer their time and abilities to demonstrate
and teach fiber arts.
If you are interested in learning to weave, see our Weaving
Classes page.
Overmountain Weaver's Guild provides various weaving and spinning
equipment that members can rent for a nominal fee.
